We sell a lot of vintage jewelry in the store, so I often take advantage of auction lots of random bits and pieces of jewelry. There are a few things that typically catch my eye; such as rhinestones, pearls, and jeweler's marks. This Ziploc freezer bag had it all.
It also contained a treasure. Non-rhinestone, non-pearl, and non-jewelry. Silver plated sugar tongs; 1880 Pairpoint Manufacturing to be exact. The Berwick pattern that was produced between 1880 and 1885. Pairpoint Manufacturing opened its doors in Massachusetts in 1880 and closed in 1929.
I was amazed.
God often plants little treasures of all types throughout our daily routines. Just to remind us that He is God and He loves us.
"And I will give you treasures hidden in the darkness — secret riches.
I will do this so you may know that I am the Lord, the God of Israel, the one who calls you by name." Isaiah 45:3
I am praising God today. Not merely for the surprise of 135 year old sugar tongs, but because He is in control. He loves me and He saved me. The special surprise helped me to remember.
"Remember His marvelous works which He has done,
His wonders, and the judgments of His mouth." Psalm 105:5
